Identity theft is a crime. Identity theft and identity fraud are terms used to refer to all types of crime in which someone wrongfully obtains and uses another person's personal data in some way that involves fraud or deception, typically for economic gain.
While identity theft can happen to anyone, there are some things you can do to reduce your risk.
- When leasing to a Tenant you should get a copy of their drivers license to validate this person signing your lease is the real person. (we suggest this is a color scan)
Request a scanned copy or use a smart phone camera and capture an image. Please make sure this image is completely legible.
