As soon as a lease has ended, no rent revenue can be posted.

Rent revenue is assigned to the renter, tenant ledger and tenant statement.

  • After a lease has ended expenses can still be posted to that property.

When a new lease starts, rent revenue can begin again.

If a tenant has left the property, and still owes money, you can debit post rent charges to Bad Debts Expense. Later if you collect that money you can reverse the bad debts with a credit post.

Note: We built in a business rule, if money is owed by a tenant after 60 days after the lease has ended, this becomes a bad debt expense.
